Question / Issue

How do I configure my RDTg w/ Touch Screen (v7)?

Answer / Solution

There are two primary ways to configure an RDTg, with a Static IP and using DHCP.

Connect the RDTg

  1. There is a lock on the top of the terminal. Using the key that is provided, unlock the terminal

NOTE! The key will remain in the terminal when it’s unlocked so do not try to remove it.

  2. Open the face of the terminal – it opens from the top
  3. Feed an Ethernet cable through the back of the terminal and connect it to the Ethernet port on the board
  4. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the network
  5. Plug in the power supply, feed its cable through the back of the terminal, and connect it to the Power Input port on the board
  6. Close the face of the terminal

These next steps will depend on your network. Some networks will assign an IP address to the clock (Dynamic) or the IP address can be set manually (Static).

Hop to Static

Configure for DHCP

After it boots up, the first screen that appears is Company Selection (the bar at the top will be red).

  1. Click on Device at the bottom of the screen
  2. Under the Server tab, enter the server URL

    Without SSL – http://[server]
    With SSL – https://[server]

  3. If there is a namespace, enter that
  4. Enter a device name (what it will be called in Clock Status)
  5. If a wireless adapter is connected, click on the Wifi tab, and enter the SSID and passcode
  6. Click Hide on the keyboard and click Ok
  7. The Company Selection will re-appear (the bar at the top should turn blue)

If the bar remains red, replace the server name with the server’s IP address OR
Add a domain name to the end of the server name (ex: Server.Company.com)

  8. If you have not already done so, log into TimeClock Manager and create a user

This user should have a Clock Edit Hours password.
In case more permissions are added later, add a System Access password.
This user should have access to Manage Terminals (under the Clocks branch).

  9. On the terminal’s Company Selection screen, with the company highlighted, click Configure.
  10. Click Yes to log in and register the terminal.
  11. Enter the user’s Edit Hours password and click Enter.
  12. The terminal was successfully registered. Click Ok.
